The SEWA International Chicago Chapter hosted its inaugural gala on May 16 bringing together community leaders, volunteers, and supporters to highlight the organization’s service initiatives and outreach programs.
The event focused on SEWA International’s programs, including Sponsor a Child (SAC), SHE, LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment and Development of Youth), Senior Sewa, and Serve 9/11, while also recognizing volunteers, donors, and community partners supporting the organization’s work in the Chicago area and India.

More than 180 attendees participated in the gala, according to organizers, with over half attending a SEWA event for the first time.
Glimpse of the event / HandoutAmong those present was Consul (Press, Information & Culture) Sanjeev Kumar Pal. The evening also featured performances by singer Vivek Aggarwal, magician Saloni Nahar, and DJ Bharat Oza.
Former national triple jump champion Tori Franklin delivered a motivational address during the event, speaking about perseverance, purpose, and community service.
Representing SEWA International at the national level, Anil Deshpande, vice president of Community Engagement and Partnerships, outlined the organization’s mission and ongoing initiatives. Organizers said the chapter plans to continue engaging new participants and encouraging volunteer involvement and donor support.

The Chicago Chapter also acknowledged sponsors and donors who supported the gala, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, AAHOA, Vyayam, and Srini Ramadath, partner at McKinsey & Company.
Regular donors were recognized with SAC plaques during the event. Organizers said the gala also helped connect with attendees interested in volunteering and contributing to the organization’s initiatives.
Raffle prizes donated by supporters were distributed during the evening, including two $500 gift certificates sponsored by Tanishq.
SEWA International Chicago Chapter thanked its advisory board members, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and media partners, including A3N Media, TV Asia, Hindi Khabar, and India Tribune, for supporting the event.
The organization said it plans to continue expanding its outreach through volunteerism, community engagement, and service initiatives.
