The Indian Cultural Association (ICA) has been named Best Volunteer Organization in Howard County, while its signature Festival of India was voted Best Festival in the 2025 Best of Howard County poll.
The community-driven recognition marks the third consecutive year ICA has earned dual honors, reflecting its blend of cultural celebration and community service.

ICA, which was established to address urgent social issues and celebrate Indian heritage in 2018, has become a component of Howard County's cultural and philanthropic landscape.
Its flagship event, the Festival of India, brings together thousands of attendees to experience Indian music, dance, cuisine, fashion, and art. Equally significant is ICA’s year-round food distribution program, which has provided more than 3.5 million pounds of food to local residents in need.
“This recognition is a tribute to every volunteer, artist, partner, and supporter who believes in our mission. We’re proud to be a space where Indian American identity is celebrated, and where service is powered by empathy and compassion. The Festival of India is more than a celebration—it’s a bridge. A place where generations gather, stories are shared, and identities are honored,” said Niti Srivastava, executive director of ICA.
ICA president Sanjay Srivastava echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the organization’s dual commitment to culture and service. “We’re honored to be recognized not just for celebration, but for service. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of ICA. This recognition is a tribute to every person who brings our programming to life.”
The 7th Annual Festival of India is scheduled for September 20–21, 2025, at the Howard County Fairgrounds. This year’s two-day celebration will feature classical and Bollywood performances, regional food vendors, artisan marketplaces, and interactive cultural activities. A Community Impact Pavilion will highlight ICA’s hunger relief programs, while a health fair will provide screenings and flu shots.
