Srushti Patil’s journey from an immigrant facing legal uncertainty to an immigration reform advocate began with a TikTok video that amassed nearly 300,000 views.

Born in India and raised in the U.S. since she was four, Patil, 24, encountered an unexpected crisis in 2020 when a clerical error in her family’s Green Card application forced them to return to India just before her sophomore year at California State University, Fresno.
