Yoga events across U.S. advance ‘America250 – Healthy America’ vision

The celebrations also marked the release of Yoga Sutrani, a publication by Yoga Kulam that introduces readers to the foundational concepts of classical yoga philosophy.

More than 1,000 people attended International Day of Yoga celebrations across the United States under the theme "America250 - Healthy America" ahead of the country's 250th anniversary.

The events were organized by Yoga Kulam USA, a nonprofit organization, in collaboration with community groups and local partners. Participants included children, young adults, families and senior citizens who took part in yoga, meditation and wellness activities.

In Somerset, New Jersey, more than 100 participants attended a regional program featuring yoga sessions and community engagement activities. During the event, Hillsborough Township Mayor Catherine Payne presented an official proclamation recognizing June 21, 2026, as International Day of Yoga and acknowledging the contributions of Yoga Kulam and partner organizations to community wellness.

Additional celebrations were held in Minnesota and Indianapolis, where participants took part in cultural presentations, yoga demonstrations, meditation sessions and devotional music programs. In Atlanta, a commemorative gathering at the Consulate General of India highlighted yoga’s role in promoting global harmony and well-being.

Large-scale events were also organized in Illinois, Oregon and Texas, including public park sessions, library programs and community gatherings that introduced participants to yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.

At Harvard Medical School, participants observed the occasion through a two-hour program featuring yoga, mindfulness practices and breathing exercises. The event was organized in collaboration with Harvard-affiliated academic and cultural groups.

Organizers said the nationwide events reflected the growing popularity of yoga as a practice that supports physical health, mental resilience and community engagement.
