The Indian High Commission in Fiji, in association with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Suva, organized a Hindi poetry symposium on the occasion of World Hindi Day, celebrated on Jan. 10
In his welcome address, the High Commissioner of India, Sunil Mehta, spoke about various activities related to the promotion and propagation of Hindi conducted by the High Commission of India.

The Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Government of the Republic of Fiji, Agni Deo Singh, was named the chief guest of the event, and in his presidential address, he spoke about the different aspects of the Hindi language and Indian culture, and also discussed the strength and historical background of India-Fiji relations.
The poetry symposium included videos invited from all across Fiji, from which 11 Hindi poets were selected, who lent dignity to the program with their creations.
Entries were also invited for a Hindi essay competition. At the end of the event, the Hindi poets and participants of the essay competition were honored.
The celebration’s end was marked by a vote of thanks by Second Secretary (Hindi and Culture), Ishwar Singh Yadav.
The event was compered by the Senior Education Officer of Fiji, Parmendra Bhan.
