Vignesh Gogineni to make pro debut at Cincinnati Open
Gogineni, currently ranked No. 1,097 in the world, will have to play in preliminary matches to qualify for the tournament's first official round.

Indian American tennis player Vignesh Gogineni will make his professional tournament debut at the Cincinnati Open this month.
Gogineni, a 22-year-old recent Yale University graduate from Mason, Ohio, was among the players announced by tournament organizers on Friday for the Cincinnati Open, which will be held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

The tournament will also feature Cincinnati native JJ Wolf, who returns to the event after a two-year absence.
Gogineni and Wolf were granted wild cards to the qualifying round, meaning that they will have to play in preliminary matches to qualify for the tournament's first official round.
Currently ranked No. 1,097 in the world, Gogineni enjoyed an impressive final collegiate season at Yale, compiling a 28-8 record and finishing as the Bulldogs' top-ranked player.
In what is set to be a milestone moment in the young rising star's career, Gogineni is listed as never having played in a tournament outside of the developmental level and will make his professional tournament debut at the Cincinnati Open this year.
Gogineni developed his game near the Lindner Family Tennis Center, where he will now make his debut on the professional circuit.
On the women's side, local players Peyton Stearns and Caty McNally are also set to compete. Stearns won the ATX Open singles title earlier this year, while McNally claimed the Charleston Open doubles title alongside fellow American Desirae Krawczyk.
The Cincinnati Open qualifying matches begin Aug. 11, with the finals scheduled for Aug. 23.
