Hindu Heritage Month Festival returns to Edmonton Aug. 9

Hindu Heritage Month Festival / Bhartiya Cultural Society of Alberta
An exhibition on Hindu culture and heritage, and multicultural dance performances by more than 100 performers, will be among the highlights of the fifth Hindu Heritage Month Festival to be held in Edmonton, Alberta, on Aug. 9 to celebrate the contributions of the community to the Canadian province's society.
The day-long festival will be held at the Bhartiya Cultural Society of Alberta in Edmonton and is being organized by the Hindu Society of Alberta in collaboration with the Bhartiya Cultural Society of Alberta and the Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir Edmonton.

The organizers said the event commemorates Alberta's recognition of August as Hindu Heritage Month through an Order in Council issued in July 2021, acknowledging the social, economic, political and cultural contributions of the Hindu community across the province.
The festival will feature an exhibition on Hindu culture and heritage, multicultural dance performances by more than 100 performers, free vegetarian food, business exhibits, children's activities and community engagement programs.
The organizers have invited individuals, community groups and businesses to participate in the event through cultural performances, food sponsorships and business exhibitions.
"The Hindu Heritage Month Festival presents an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to come together to celebrate the rich heritage of Hinduism and recognize the invaluable contributions of the Hindu community to Alberta's multicultural society," the organizers said in a statement.
