U.S. soldier Shilpa Chaudhary questions India's pro-Iran protests

An Indian origin soldier serving in the United States Army, Shilpa Chaudhary, has found herself at the center of a passionate virtual debate after she questioned the protests in India decrying the killing of Iran's former Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Khamenei's death had sparked wide scale protests in India, especially in parts of Lucknow and Kashmir. The protestors questioned U.S. actions and India's silence on the issue, while mourning the Iranian leader's death.

Chaudhary, who called for people to "love the country they live in", questioned the intentions behind the protests. She asked, "What benefit are you going to get from this? The state you live in, you are demanding from the government for what? What will they do? Where were they involved? (sic)?
She added, "where all this has actually happened, in Iran, where that leader has been killed... the people there are celebrating."
Urging Indians to "open their eyes a little", she added that India is viewed with respect globally and added that such actions "disrespect the respect" given to India.
Chaudhary, 38, is an Indian-origin US Army specialist in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) operations. A mother of three, Chaudhary frequently shares her military life on social media as @indianmominusarmy.
