University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) track and field athlete Krishna Jayasankar has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Team after first earning Academic All-District honors, recognizing her outstanding achievements in both athletics and academics.
The Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes who excel academically while maintaining strong athletic performances. To qualify, nominees must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average, hold sophomore academic and athletic standing, and rank among the top performers nationally in their respective events.

A native of Chennai, India, Jayasankar earned a master's degree in higher education while maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. She is a four-time UNLV Dean’s List honoree and has also received Academic All-Mountain West recognition.
Jayasankar enjoyed a standout season in the shot put, making history as the first Indian thrower to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. During the season, she broke three Indian indoor national records and recorded the second-best indoor shot put mark in UNLV program history with a throw of 17.09 meters at the Mountain West Indoor Championships.
Her performance at the conference championships earned her All-Mountain West honors after finishing second. She also became the first Indian woman to surpass the 16-meter mark in the indoor shot put.
At the NCAA Indoor Championships, Jayasankar secured Second Team All-America honors with a throw of 16.54 meters, finishing 13th overall.
She claimed three indoor shot put titles during the season, winning at the UNR Invitational, New Mexico Team Open and Don Kirby Elite Invitational with throws of 15.99 meters, 16.63 meters and 16.83 meters, respectively
The CSC Academic All-America Team is a national honor awarded by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) to student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional achievement both in the classroom and in their sport. Selected from among Academic All-District honorees, Academic All-Americans are recognized for maintaining outstanding academic records while competing at a high athletic level, making the award one of the highest distinctions for collegiate student-athletes in the United States.
