Trump confirms India trip, recalls 2020 visit

U.S. President Donald Trump on Nov. 6 confirmed his plans to travel to India, possibly next year, as he fondly recollected his historic trip to Ahmedabad during his first term in 2020.
Trump applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with whom he has been speaking frequently by phone, and described him as a friend.

India has largely stopped buying oil from Russia. He (Modi) is a friend of mine, and we speak, and he wants me to go there, and we'll figure that out. I'll go (to India). I had a great trip there (to Ahmedabad in 2020) with the Prime Minister. He's a great man and I'll be going (to India),” the President said in response to a question from reporters in the Oval Office of the White House.

“Are you planning to go to India next year?” the president was asked. “It could be,” said Trump in response.
A bilateral India-US trade deal is pending. Officials from the two countries continue to negotiate on it.
The negotiations are guided by the leadership of Trump and Modi, both of whom want to be a win-win for the people of the two largest democracies in the world.
