Abraham George / Texas GOP
Texas GOP Chairman Abraham George announced his candidacy for re-election to lead the Republican Party in the southern state, promising to “advance the values that make Texas the greatest state in the nation.”
George highlighted the achievements made by the party under his leadership and said, “Under our watch, the Republican Party of Texas has delivered unprecedented results for conservative Texans.”
He added, “We filed a historic lawsuit to close our primaries, which protects the integrity of Republican nominations and ensures that only Republicans choose Republican nominees. This landmark legal action represents our commitment to preserving the voice of actual Republican voters.”

Born in Kerala, India, George moved to the United States at the age of 16 and has worked his way through the ranks of the Republican Party. He was appointed chairman in 2024 following his loss in the 2023 Republican primary for Texas’ 89th House District.
The election, slated to be held during the 2026 Republican Party of Texas State Convention in Houston from June 11 to 13, will potentially prove to be a key vote in assessing the overall mood of the GOP voter base at a time when anti-immigration sentiments are on the rise.
George himself has been at the receiving end of hate, including recent racist comments by MAGA influencer Elijah Schaffer, who mocked George’s accent and claimed that Texas is turning into Mumbai with George leading the GOP.
