MAGA influencer Elijah Schaffer has been facing heavy criticism after posting racist remarks online against the Indian-origin chairman of the Texas Republican Party (GOP), Abraham George.

Schaffer took to X (formerly Twitter) and mocked George’s Indian accent, based on which he claimed that Texas was ‘turning into Mumbai,’ accusing the Republican Party of facilitating what he described as H1B immigration fraud.

“The Texas GOP is led by an Indian with an Indian accent. Now you know why Texas is turning into Mumbai and the centre of H1B immigration fraud. Our own party is orchestrating it, it’s not just the Democrats. Indians are loyal to their race and non-Indian politicians are paid off,” Schaffer wrote on X.

Schaffer, a podcaster, online personality, and commentator, made these remarks while sharing a video by the Texas GOP, where Abraham said,

“In Texas, your God-given right to protect yourself, your family, and your property is non-negotiable. Texas law stands firmly behind stand-your-ground, Castle Doctrine, and Constitutional Carry."

“Touch a Texan’s life or property, and you’ll face the full weight of the Second Amendment. We defend the defender,” he added.

George, who identifies as a Christian, was appointed as the chairman in 2024 following his loss in the 2023 Republican primary for Texas's 89th House district.

Schaffer’s remarks brought in criticism from netizens, with one user writing, “I'm curious, do you just not like him because he's done a bad job? If so, please give some examples or is it just an issue with his ethnicity and you're a bigot?”

“Meh. Neither his accent or ethnicity concers me. only hist integrity and his ideology matter,” read another comment.

Schaffer’s remarks come amid the surge of online criticism and hostile narrative against Indians from the American right wing, with some MAGA-linked influencers amplifying anti-India rhetoric on social media.

Schaffer was among the rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and even shared images of emails from a computer in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office.
