Indian American CEO of Girls Who Code and founder of Moms First Reshma Saujani will deliver the 2026 commencement address at Olin College of Engineering.
Saujani, a lawyer, activist and author, has spent more than a decade building national campaigns centered on women’s economic empowerment, the gender gap in technology and policies aimed at supporting mothers and caregivers.

Her work has focused in particular on expanding access to childcare, paid family leave and opportunities for girls and women in science and technology.
She was recently named one of TIME Magazine’s 2026 Women of the Year, an honor tied to her advocacy around universal care for children under age 5 in New York.
Best known as the founder of Girls Who Code, Saujani launched the nonprofit in 2012 to help close the gender gap in computer science and technology careers. The organization has since become one of the most visible efforts in the United States aimed at increasing girls’ participation in coding and STEM education.
Before founding Girls Who Code, Saujani worked as an attorney and in finance, including roles at Davis Polk & Wardwell, Carret Asset Management and Fortress Investment Group.
In addition to her advocacy work, Saujani is a New York Times bestselling author. Her books include PAY UP: The Future of Women and Work (And Why It’s Different Than You Think), Brave, Not Perfect, and the Girls Who Code series. She also hosts My So-Called Midlife, a podcast with Lemonada Media.
Her public speaking has also drawn wide attention. Her TED Talk, “Teach girls bravery, not perfection,” has been viewed more than 54 million times globally, while her Smith College commencement speech on imposter syndrome has surpassed 18 million views.
Born in Chicago to parents of Gujarati Indian origin who had been expelled from Uganda during the rule of Idi Amin, Saujani earned degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Harvard Kennedy School and Yale Law School.
The ceremony is scheduled for May 15, at the college’s campus, marking the institution’s 21st graduating class.
