The Queensland Premier, David Crisafulli MP, wrote to Subash Chetry, President of GOPIO Cairns, on Oct.28, expressing support for multicultural communities following recent protests.

The letter comes in the backdrop of recent anti-immigration protests and counter-protests across Australia. In August 2025, the 'March for Australia' anti-immigration rallies drew thousands across cities including Brisbane, Queensland, where clashes with counter-protesters led to arrests.
