New Hindi-language book collection unveiled at Maryland library
Free April 12 event marks launch of 160-plus Hindi-language books for all ages

Montgomery County Public Libraries will unveil a new Hindi-language collection at its Germantown branch on April 12, expanding access to materials for Hindi-speaking residents across the county.
The event, titled ‘Many Languages, One Library: Celebrating Hindi,’ is scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Germantown Library, 19840 Century Blvd. It will mark the addition of more than 160 Hindi-language titles for children, teens and adults to the system’s World Language collection.
Library officials said the expansion was made possible with support from the Balvihar Hindi School, part of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, the Desi Runners Desi Walkers Community, and Senior Connection of Montgomery County.

“Montgomery County’s diversity is one of our greatest strengths,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “Expanding our library collections to include more Hindi-language materials helps ensure that residents of all backgrounds feel welcome in our libraries and have access to resources that reflect their languages and experiences.”
He added that the county is “grateful to our community partners whose support helps ensure that our collections represent the diverse cultures of Montgomery County.”
The program will feature remarks from local officials and community representatives, followed by the formal unveiling of the collection. Invited speakers include County Councilmember Kristin Mink, Council Vice President Marilyn Balcombe and MCPL Director Darcell Graham, along with representatives from partner organizations.
Residents are encouraged to attend the event and explore the new collection.
