More U.S. states, cities proclaim August 15 as India Day

Executive proclamations honoring the occasion were issued across both state and municipal levels.

More American states and key municipal bodies across the U.S., Pacific Northwest and Midwest declared August 15 as "India Day" in recognition of India's Independence Day, highlighting the growing cultural, economic and civic contributions of the Indian-American community.

According to official updates from the Consulate General of India in Seattle, executive proclamations honoring the occasion were issued across both state and municipal levels.

Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson issued a state proclamation declaring August 15 as India Day, joined by official municipal proclamations from Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, Bellevue Mayor Mo Malakoutian and Kent Mayor Dana Ralph.

Members of the King County Council, representing 39 cities across Greater Seattle, personally visited the Indian Consulate to present a special recognition honoring India's achievements in education, health care and economic development, while acknowledging the county's vibrant community of more than 100,000 Indian-Americans.

Bellevue declares India’s 80th Independence Day as India Day!

ebraska Gov. Jim Pillen issued a state proclamation commending India's global leadership in science, technology, health care and education while praising the Indian diaspora's contribution to local prosperity.

Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek also issued a statewide proclamation designating August 15 as India Day, highlighting the strong economic and civic ties between Oregon and India.

Across the United States, governors and civic leaders highlighted the "Living Bridge" of the Indian diaspora, acknowledging how Indian-Americans continue to enrich American society, foster innovation and deepen bilateral relations between the two nations.
