Conservative commentator Laura Loomer said her views on India have changed after a nine-day visit, describing the country as “the best” she has traveled to.
“I love India. My misconceptions have been corrected. I have nothing but nice things to say,” Loomer wrote in a post on X reflecting on her visit.
“Honestly, as someone who has traveled a lot, India is the best country I have ever traveled to. It’s incredible,” she wrote, adding that despite spending over a week in the country, “there is still so much to see and do.”
Pushing back against what she called negative portrayals in U.S. media, Loomer said her experience in India had been “amazing” and that she felt “safe and comfortable the entire time.”
“India is portrayed negatively in the media as a place Americans should avoid, but I realize a lot of that is completely made up,” Loomer said.
Honestly, as someone who has traveled a lot, India is the best country I have ever traveled to. It’s incredible. I will have been here for 9 days when I leave, and there is still so much to see and do. My experience has been amazing and India is portrayed negatively in the media… https://t.co/M5PcETapBt

She praised India’s “people, food, culture and hospitality,” calling them “just incredible,” and described Indians as “the nicest people I have ever met.”
Referring to India’s global trajectory, Loomer wrote, “India will truly be the next big super power. This country has incredible potential,” adding that the country is often inaccurately depicted as “3rd world.”
“That couldn’t be further from the truth,” she said.
Loomer also expressed interest in returning, noting that she hopes to visit South India on a future trip. “All good things come to an end. I’ll be back (hopefully soon),” she wrote.
Her remarks come days after she publicly apologized for earlier “anti-India” posts that had drawn criticism online for being racist and derogatory. The earlier comments resurfaced during her visit, including at a public event in New Delhi where she was confronted with past statements.
During that appearance, Loomer acknowledged she “shouldn’t have said some of the things” and apologized if her remarks had offended people, while maintaining her broader political positions on issues such as immigration and the H-1B visa program.
Her India visit also drew attention on social media, where users pointed to the contrast between her current praise and past criticism of Indians and Indian-origin communities.
Loomer, who has been associated with U.S. President Donald Trump and is known for controversial online rhetoric, has previously made remarks about India and Indian Americans that were widely criticized.
The development comes amid ongoing debates over how India is represented in Western media and how perceptions among foreign visitors evolve through direct travel experiences.
