The Ram Lal Seekri Endowed Scholarship has been established at Mount Wachusett Community College through an endowment agreement signed April 6, 2026, to support students with financial need.
The scholarship was created by Indian-origin couple Raj P. Seekri and Raj K. Seekri, according to a community announcement. It honors Ram Lal Seekri, described as a community leader whose commitment to service and belief in education influenced communities in India and the United States.
The fund will provide financial assistance to students at the college with demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to Massachusetts residents, and students in any field of study are eligible. Awards may be used for tuition, fees and books.

The Seekris have established endowed scholarships at 58 colleges and universities across the United States, including SUNY Empire State University, the University of Rhode Island, Tarleton State University, Dallas College, the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of North Texas. Mount Wachusett Community College is the first institution in Massachusetts to receive such support from them.
“This scholarship reflects a powerful legacy of generosity, service, and respect for education,” Carla Zottoli, MWCC Foundation director, said. “We are grateful to Professor and Mrs. Seekri for their vision and for creating opportunities that will support MWCC students for generations to come.”
The scholarship was created as a tribute to Professor Seekri’s father.
“The Ram Lal Seekri Endowed Scholarship is a tribute to my father, whose life was a blessing to his family and the communities in which he lived, both in India and the United States,” Professor Seekri said.
“His dedication to serving others and his deep respect for education shaped generations of our family. It is our hope that these values—generosity, service to others, and education for all—will live on through the students who benefit from this scholarship.”
Ram Lal Seekri was known for providing guidance and support to members of his community in India and later in the United States. His emphasis on education, particularly when access was limited, influenced his family’s efforts.
“It is in honor of his gracious humility that we have established this scholarship,” Professor Seekri added. “We hope his legacy will continue through those who are supported by this gift and that they, in turn, will uplift and empower others.”
The endowment will fund annual awards under MWCC Foundation policies, providing long-term support while preserving the fund in perpetuity.
