Rakhi Israni / Handout
Indian-American congressional candidate Rakhi Israni said her campaign nearly doubled the political participation of the Indian-American community in California's 14th Congressional District, describing the increased civic engagement as a lasting achievement despite her defeat in the Democratic primary.
In a video message thanking supporters after the election, Israni said her four-and-a-half-month congressional campaign brought thousands of first-time participants into the political process and created a stronger political voice for Indian Americans in the district.

“We nearly doubled the political participation of the Indian American community in this election. That is a lasting achievement,” Israni said, adding that the communities brought together during the campaign would continue to shape the district's future.
Acknowledging that she would not advance to the general election, Israni said the campaign's impact extended beyond the electoral result.
"When we started this campaign, we had no political organization, no established following," she said. "Yet in just a few months, together, we created something extraordinary. We brought thousands of new people into the political process, voters who had never before felt that their voices mattered.”
Israni thanked donors, elected officials, endorsing organizations, volunteers and voters for supporting the campaign, saying conversations with residents helped deepen her understanding of the district and its challenges.
She said the campaign was built on the principle of "Dharma," describing it as a commitment to serving something greater than oneself rather than focusing solely on electoral success.
“This campaign was built on Dharma, the belief that each of us has a duty to serve something larger than ourselves. It's not about titles or winning or losing. It's always about service. That belief brought me into this race. It'll continue to guide me long after it ends. The relationships we've built will endure. The voices we empowered will keep being heard, and the community that we mobilize will continue to shape the future of this district,” she said.
Israni concluded by thanking supporters for believing in her campaign and said the values of service that motivated her candidacy would continue to guide her beyond the election.
