Emerson appoints Rudy Sengupta as chief technology and AI officer

He will lead Emerson's technology strategy, advancing AI innovation, automation, and enterprise-wide digital transformation.

Missouri-based Industrial technology company Emerson, has appointed Indian-origin executive Rudy Sengupta as its senior vice president and chief technology and AI officer, effective Aug. 15. 

Sengupta succeeds Peter Zornio, who will retire on Dec. 31 after two decades with Emerson. In his new role, Sengupta will join the company's office of the chief executive and lead its technology and AI strategy across Emerson's portfolio of industrial software, control systems and intelligent devices.

The appointment comes as Emerson accelerates its AI-enabled automation strategy, with a focus on advancing its Enterprise Operations Platform and helping customers achieve autonomous operations at scale.

Sengupta said he was honored to take on the position and build on Emerson's innovation legacy. He said the company would continue integrating data-driven intelligence into the tools customers use daily to help businesses make faster and better-informed decisions.

Sengupta joined Emerson through the company's acquisition of National Instruments (NI). Most recently, he served as vice president and general manager of test and analytics software at Emerson Test & Measurement, where he helped expand the business through software innovation, AI integration and recurring revenue growth. 

During his tenure, he led efforts to transform the segment's software offerings into integrated test workflow and data analytics solutions while embedding AI-driven capabilities into the platform.

Rudy's leadership of our enterprise AI agenda and long-term technology direction, along with his partnership with teams across our businesses, will be instrumental in accelerating innovation across Emerson and positioning the Company for continued growth,” said Lal Karsanbhai, president and CEO of Emerson. 

Emerson also recognized Zornio's contributions during its portfolio transformation, with Karsanbhai thanking him for driving innovation across the company. Zornio will support the leadership transition through the end of the year before retiring.
