Aruna Miller to address women’s leadership event in Maryland

Maryland Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller will serve as the opening keynote speaker at the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Power and Purpose: Inaugural Women’s Leadership Exchange’ on April 23 in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Washington DC Silver Spring, located at 8777 Georgia Ave. It will bring together women business leaders for a morning program that includes keynote remarks, a panel discussion and networking opportunities.
Miller announced her participation in a post on X, writing, “I am excited to announce I will be the Opening Keynote Speaker at the Greater Silver Spring Chamber’s Power and Purpose: Inaugural Women’s Leadership Exchange on Thursday, April 23!”
She added, “Women business leaders will be gathering in Silver Spring for this dynamic morning of inspiration, connection, and leadership development – don’t miss your chance to be one of them!”

The event, organized by the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce, will feature a panel discussion with local women business leaders sharing their experiences. The program is designed to bring together professionals from different sectors in the region.
Admission is priced at $70 for chamber members and $100 for non-members. Organizers said rates will increase after the close of business on Monday, April 20.
Miller, a Democrat, has served as Maryland’s 10th lieutenant governor since January 2023. She previously represented District 15 in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2010 to 2019.
Born in Hyderabad, India, Miller immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of seven. She grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York, where her father worked as a mechanical engineer. She later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
She is the first South Asian woman and the first immigrant elected to statewide office in Maryland.
