90 percent international students fearful of visa status: Report

The study by Stop AAPI Hate cites rising anxiety, surveillance concerns, and inadequate institutional support across U.S. campuses.

Majority of international students across U.S. universities fear for their visa status amid growing instability and uncertainty, a new report has found.

The study, released on Dec. 10 by Stop AAPI Hate, shows that 90 percent of students reported fear or uncertainty about their visa situation, including risks of detention, deportation, or disruption to their academic progress.

According to the findings, 72 percent of international students in the U.S. come from Asia, with the largest groups arriving from India and China.
