2036 Olympics bid could unlock new opportunities for India’s female athletes

Sthalekar says a 2036 Olympics in India could open doors for female athletes, but calls for stronger school sports infrastructure and early grassroots investment

If India is selected to host the Olympic Games in 2036, opportunities for female athletes are likely to increase, said Lisa Sthalekar, former cricketer and president of the World Cricketers Association.

Speaking to New India Abroad, on the sidelines of the Indiaspora Forum, Sthalekar said that there’s also a need to ramp up infrastructure across the board including school infrastructure.
