Voice of Specially Abled People (VOSAP), a U.N. ECOSOC-recognized nonprofit, hosted its first-ever fundraising gala in Atlanta on April 25.

Themed “Empowering Ability: VOSAP Gala – Chapter: Atlanta,” the event brought together more than 150 attendees, including community leaders, doctors, philanthropists and advocates.

Dedicated to empowering specially abled individuals across India and the United States, VOSAP sought to create a sense of shared commitment to a more inclusive and accessible world.

VOSAP noted that the fundraiser exceeded its expectations and raised more than $150,000 in a single evening.

Hailing the donors, VOSAP described the contributions as a “powerful testament to the generosity of donors and their belief in VOSAP’s mission.”

It continued, “The event was attended at full capacity, reflecting the deep resonance of VOSAP’s work among community members who had long awaited an opportunity to collectively stand behind the cause.”

VOSAP founders Usha and Pranav Desai also attended the gala.

“Coming back to Atlanta after 25 years and seeing so many friends and people rallied behind VOSAP’s mission — it is humbling and energizing,” said Usha Desai, VOSAP founder.

Padma Bhushan Dr. Jagdish Sheth and Madhu Sheth were the chief guests at the event. Dr. Sheth, a globally renowned scholar, spoke of his journey from “near-nothing to becoming one of India’s most celebrated academics and philanthropists,” VOSAP said.

Dr. Sheth also spotlighted how, at every turning point, he discovered the profound power of giving.

The event also featured a performance by Sparsh Shah, VOSAP’s ambassador and a celebrated singer who has inspired millions worldwide.

Sparsh, who was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare bone disorder, delivered a performance that left the audience spellbound, the organizers said.

The gala’s success was driven by VOSAP Atlanta Chapter’s outreach led by Nimish and Parul Sevak.

The effort was supported by Mustafa Ajmeri, Jatin Shah, Dr. Naresh and Dr. Asha Parikh, Dr. Dhaval and Dr. Monal Shah, Dr. Darshana and Dr. Vijay Vyas, Dr. Sanjay and Dr. Amita Parikh, Dr. Jayprakash and Dr. Rekha Desai, Mamta Shah, Sameer Shah, Atul Bhingare, Mukesh Shah and Ashish Udas.
