The University of Vermont (UVM) appointed Indian American professor Vikas Anand as dean of the Grossman School of Business, effective July 1.
The appointment was announced by UVM president Marlene Tromp and interim provost Linda S. Schadler, who said Anand’s experience as a researcher, educator, and administrator made him well suited to lead the school.

“Dr. Anand’s extensive background as a researcher, an educator, and an administrative leader makes him an excellent choice to lead the Grossman School of Business. UVM will especially benefit from his insights and experience with interdisciplinary programs in emerging areas,” they said in a joint statement.
Anand currently serves as associate dean for academic programs at the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University, where he oversees undergraduate and graduate programs, executive education, global initiatives, career services, and marketing.
Before joining NC State in 2021, Anand spent over two decades at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, where he held several leadership roles, including executive director of master’s in business administration programs and graduate innovation, chair of the department of management, and executive director of the George W. Edwards Jr. Career Center.
At Arkansas, he worked on redesigning master’s in business administration curricula, expanding executive master’s in business administration enrollment, launching new master’s programs, and restructuring career services. He also managed a career center supported by a $5.6 million endowment and led initiatives on alumni engagement and lifelong learning.
Anand earned his doctorate in management from Arizona State University. He also holds a bachelor of engineering in civil engineering and a master of science (honors) in physics from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and a master's in business administration in international business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
He has published 28 peer-reviewed journal articles, with his research cited more than 6,000 times, and has received multiple teaching and research grants.
