US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Oct. 31 signed the 2025 Framework for the U.S.-India Major Defence Partnership—a sweeping agreement that cements defense cooperation between the two democracies for the next decade and underscores their shared strategic focus on the Indo-Pacific.
The deal, inked on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus in Kuala Lumpur, represents the most ambitious blueprint yet for the two nations’ military collaboration. It replaces the 2023 U.S.-India Roadmap for Defense Industrial Cooperation and is guided by the Feb. 13, 2025, Trump-Modi Joint Statement.
