The San Francisco Unicorns defeated MI New York by five wickets on July 5 in the last match of the Pomona leg, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

After electing to field, the Unicorns bowled out MI New York for 104 in 20 overs before chasing down the target in 16.5 overs. Captain Matthew Short starred with the ball, returning figures of 4 for 17, while Sanjay Krishnamurthi anchored the run chase with an unbeaten 48 off 45 deliveries.

MI New York suffered an early collapse after Quinton de Kock was dismissed for a first-ball duck, caught by Lhuan-dre Pretorius off Xavier Bartlett. Monank Patel scored 11 and Nicholas Pooran added 20, but the batting lineup failed to build meaningful partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Captain Matthew Short turned the innings decisively in the Unicorns' favor with a spell of 4 for 17, removing Tajinder Singh, Kieron Pollard, Corey Anderson and Tristan Luus to dismantle the middle and lower order. Corbin Bosch top-scored with 21 as MI New York were bowled out for 104 in their allotted 20 overs. Brody Couch provided strong support with figures of 3 for 32, while Haris Rauf returned 1 for 13, including a maiden over.

The Unicorns also lost both openers, with Pretorius falling for a first-ball duck and Finn Allen dismissed for 5. Short contributed 21 before Aaron Hardie departed for 4, leaving the hosts at 66 for 4.

Krishnamurthi steadied the innings with a composed knock, combining patience with effective strike rotation to guide the chase. He shared a valuable partnership with Hassan Khan, who scored 11, before remaining unbeaten on 48 as the Unicorns reached 105 for 5 with more than three overs to spare. Xavier Bartlett finished unbeaten on 1.

Tristan Luus claimed 2 for 21 and Faisal Khan Ahmadzai returned 2 for 23 for MI New York, but the visitors' modest total proved insufficient. The victory keeps San Francisco firmly in contention for a playoff berth as the league stage enters its closing rounds in Dallas.
