Mamdani to swear-in on New Year with a Block Party

The block party is open to all and will be organized at Broadway.

Zohran Mamdani is gearing up to ring in his Mayoral run with an Inauguration Block Party on Jan. 1, 2026.

New York City's mayor-elect, Mamdani, has invited all New Yorkers to join in on the celebrations at Broadway, near City Hall, marking his mayoral inauguration.

The block part will start at 11 A.M. and will go on till 3 P.M. Mamdani will take oath at 1. P.M., on the same day, on the steps of City Hall in a joint ceremony with Comptroller-elect Mark Levine and reelected Public Advocate Jumaane Williams  

"This inauguration is a celebration of the movement we built, the mandate we won, and the city we are prepared to lead," Mamdani said in a statement.

He added, "Working New Yorkers are at the heart of our agenda and we invite them to join us as we welcome this new era of politics to City Hall."

The organizers notified that the celebration can also be watched online, however, both online and physical attendance requires attendees to RSVP on the official invite page.

Mamdani was elected to New York's Mayoral office at the age of 34, on November 4, by defeating Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa with a focus on affordability and other socialist campaign promises. His victory is unique as he becomes the city's first Muslim and South Asian mayor.
