Jersey South Asians celebrate councilwoman Mamta Singh's election win

Other elected representatives including Assemblyman Ravi Bhalla County and Assemblywoman Katie Brennan were also honored.

The South Asian community of Jersey city hosted a celebratory event to thank their elected representatives, especially the region's first elected Indian American councilwoman Mamta Singh.

The event stood as an opportunity to bring residents, leaders, and partners together with one common goal, building a safer, more affordable, and more united Jersey City.

The celebration was organized by Riaz Wahid, Sunny Kumar , Harkesh Thakur , Manmit Singh and Anjuman Juweria.

Talking about the significance of the event, the organizers said in a statement, "Together, we can strengthen our neighborhoods, support our families, and create a future where every community member feels valued and heard."

They added, "This event was just the beginning—our collective work continues, and we look forward to building an even stronger Jersey City, hand in hand."

The event was also attended by Assemblyman Ravi Bhalla County, Assemblywoman Katie Brennan and County Commissioner William O'Dea among other elected public officials.
