Indian origin drivers fight off carjacking attempt in Melbourne
A bystander whose daughter filmed the confrontation from a safe distance shared the video on Facebook.

Two Indian-origin delivery truck drivers fought off an attempted armed carjacking at a service station car park in Melbourne on March 20.
The confrontation erupted near a freeway while one driver, identified as Sahil, was on his lunch break at an eatery.
A bystander who shared the video online described Sahil as a hardworking man eating his lunch in peace. “Two young junkie idiots began screaming racial slurs at him,” the Facebook reel caption stated. Sahil ignored them and continued eating, the post stated.

The pair then pushed him and demanded he give the keys of his truck to them, according to the Facebook reel. “What Sahil did next was totally awesome,” the bystander wrote.

A co-worker soon joined the altercation. The two drivers grappled with the alleged offenders, at one point using a spirit level during the scuffle. The confrontation continued as the suspects attempted to retreat to a nearby vehicle.
The two alleged offenders fled the scene. “These idiots are the ones breaking into homes and robbing woman in broad daylight,” the bystander wrote.
Victoria Police said no serious injuries were reported. Investigators are continuing to review footage and have appealed for information as the suspects remain on the run.
Bystander Andre Octavio, whose daughter filmed the incident from a safe distance, later updated the reel by adding a GoFundMe link for Sahil. He said that there was a lot of public support to buy beer and a new spirit level for Sahil and his coworker.
