Indian-origin Pranita Venkatesh was sworn in as the Mayor of San Carlos on Dec. 8.
Venkatesh, a member of the Indo-Fijian diaspora, has made history by being unanimously sworn in as the Mayor of San Carlos, California. Her appointment makes her one of the city’s youngest mayors and among its first leaders of South Asian heritage.
Born to Indian parents in Fiji, Venkatesh was previously elected to the city council in 2022 after having served on the San Carlos Economic Development Advisory Commission for three years.
