Indian-origin golfer Manav Shah is gearing up for his major championship debut, cementing his place in the upcoming U.S. Open in New York.
Born in Bakersfield, California, Shah is also the first player from the Indian Golf Premier League to reach a major championship.
Shah secured his place through the demanding 36-hole final qualifying event at the Dallas Athletic Club, where he carded rounds of 66 and 71 to finish among the top qualifiers for the prestigious tournament at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

The Dallas qualifier was won by Peter Uihlein (67-66), and Tom Kim (66-68) finished in second place. Cooper Dossey (65-70) came in third.
Celebrating Shah's qualification, IGPL shared a video montage of his performance and said, "The U.S. Open just got an Indian touch! Congratulations to Green Fuels Vizag GC’s Manav Shah on qualifying for one of golf’s biggest stages."
It added, "Big stage. Bigger dreams. Go shine, Manav."
Shah, who turned pro in 2015, will debut in a major after more than a decade of relentless efforts. He has also played for the University of California, Los Angeles, and advanced from the highly competitive Dallas qualifying field alongside established names including Tom Kim, Graeme McDowell and Peter Uihlein.
Shah has so far played four Korn Ferry Tours, the official developmental tour for the U.S.-based PGA Tour, one PGA Tour, 28 PGA Canada Tours and 33 PGA Latinoamérica Tours.
The 2026 U.S. Open is scheduled to be played at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, one of the most historic venues in American golf. The USGA describes the championship as the “toughest test in golf,” with qualifying events held across the United States and internationally to finalize the tournament field.
