Indian American entrepreneurs call for better India-US ties

One of the founders of IAMBIG, an organization of Indian origin entrepreneurs, made the appeal at IAMBIG's Diwali bash.

Sandesh Sharda, the co-founder of Indian American Business Impact Group (IAMBIG) and President of Miracle Systems called for free trade between India and America and highlighted the willingness of the Diaspora entrepreneurs to support the push for improved ties, during an interview at IAMBIG's 2025 Diwali Bash, on Nov. 22, in Virginia.

IAMBIG is a platform for Indian American Business Owners, CEO’s and CXO of private and public traded companies to exchange ideas, network, and discuss investment opportunities across all sectors such as IT services and products. It aims to promote Indian American Entrepreneurs through networking and collaboration across all sectors of business.

Highlighting the contributions of the grouping with a combined worth of close to $7 billion, Sharda said, "Our group brings Indian businesses of the DMV area under one platform. Using this platform, I want to say that we have created over 11,000 American jobs."

Sharda also noted the significance of Indo-US ties and addressed the irritants it faces, he said, "we are fully integrated with America and we would like to see tariffs abolished between India and USA on both the sides so that there is a free trade between the country Of course, where U.S. thinks that there is a strategic need to put tariff, they should put that tariff."

He added, "India is a very important partner for the U.S., just like the U.S. is a very important partner for India. We as American Indians would love to participate in any discussion to diffuse the situation and make the relationship better".

Ravi Puli, co-founder of IAMBIG and President of International Solutions Group noted the inspiration behind starting the organization and said, "I always was looking for something exclusive for very successful Indian American entrepreneurs to be in one platform so that they can all help each other and also grow with each other and do more impactful work."

Anil Sharma, co-founder of IAMBIG and Chief Executive Officer at 22nd Century Technologies, described IAMBIG as an "extended family". He said, "This is a group where we have fun, we network, we help each other, we help each other to grow, to conserve the wealth as well as make the wealth."

Sharma also noted the significance of reeling in the next generation and aiding their growth. He said, "We not only help each other, we want to help the community, the next generation. We're building the next generation entrepreneurs, having different sessions for them. "

Arush Selvaraj, one of the young beneficiaries of the organization's efforts to mould the next generation, hailed IAMBIG's efforts and said, "I did the IAMBIG leadership program a couple of months ago. It really helped me a lot because I got to connect with a lot of very big entrepreneurs and they taught me a lot about leadership, how to start a business and how to follow your dreams."

He added, "It was really very helpful for me and the younger generation. I hope everyone gets a chance to also experience this and also get a chance to also learn and have a big impact on their lives."

The Diwali bash boasted of musical performances by singers Subhadeep Das and Ananya Pal, along with Bollywood dancing and a night filled with festivities.
