Yardi, 79, a 1968 graduate and board chairman and founder of Yardi Systems, established the Yardi ScAI in 2020 to boost education and research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, with applications across healthcare, materials science, robotics, Industry 4.0, weather prediction, and transportation. The school brings together more than 40 faculty members across departments.

Part of the donation will fund the first phase of a campus infrastructure initiative, including new housing and an academic building to accommodate the institute’s growing academic and residential needs.

The institute said the contribution marks the formal launch of its infrastructure renewal program aimed at modernizing campus facilities.

“I am deeply grateful to IIT Delhi for the strong educational foundation that prepared me to tackle life’s challenges and pursue the many opportunities that came my way,” Yardi said.

IIT Delhi director Rangan Banerjee said the donation would enhance both research and infrastructure capacity.

“We are grateful to our distinguished alumnus Mr. Anant Yardi for his visionary support towards both academic excellence and campus development. His generous donation will significantly strengthen our capabilities in artificial intelligence while also enabling us to build world-class infrastructure,” Banerjeesaid.

The institute said the gift reflects increasing engagement from its global alumni network and is expected to support innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and long-term institutional growth.

A leader in real estate asset and property management solutions, Yardi previously worked at Burroughs Corporation for 14 years developing programming methodologies and directing systems development.

The IIT graduate received an M.S. in Engineering from UC Berkeley, where he established the Yardi Scholarship for undergraduates who are passionate about making a difference in the world, protecting democracy, and finding positive ways to use technology.
