The University of Oklahoma’s (OU) 2025 Regents’ Alumni Awards recognized chemical engineering graduate Hemant P. Goradia for academic excellence, university engagement, and philanthropic activities.
The university highlighted his early academic achievements, his role in expanding Vinmar International from a small family enterprise into a global petrochemicals company, and his sustained support for education, research, and community initiatives.
Goradia, who earned a BS in chemical engineering in 1981, began his career by joining his family’s small New York business more than four decades ago.

Over time, he helped scale Vinmar into an international company and later served two decades as CEO before transitioning into investment and nonprofit leadership.
He continues to advise the university through the Gallogly College of Engineering Board of Visitors, providing strategic input on academic programs, research priorities, and student development.
His philanthropic work, undertaken with his wife, Indrani, includes establishing a research fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital Cancer Center and supporting multiple OU initiatives in engineering and education.
Through Pratham USA, Goradia has championed literacy programs for underprivileged children in India, expanding learning access for millions.
The ceremony also recognized seven other alumni for contributions across public service, business, and technology. OU officials framed the honorees’ work as evidence of the university’s broad and sustained impact across sectors, communities, and global networks.
