City of Allen observes week-long Diwali fest
The City of Allen and Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas hosted a five-day Diwali Mahotsav featuring cultural programs, fireworks, and community celebrations highlighting diversity and unity.

The City of Allen marked the Diwali Festival of Lights Week from Oct. 17 to 21, 2025, with a series of events that drew thousands of residents and visitors.
Organized by the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas (JKYog), the celebrations showcased the festival’s core message—the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
The five-day Diwali Mahotsav featured daily pujas, cultural performances, traditional cuisine, children’s workshops, and a four-day fireworks display. The festivities concluded on Oct. 21 with Govardhan Puja and the Gujarati New Year celebration, followed by a devotional bhajan sandhya.

Brooks issued a city proclamation designating Oct. 17 to 20 as “Diwali, Festival of Lights Week,” recognizing Allen’s cultural diversity and inclusive spirit. “From my family to yours, we wish everyone a joyous and prosperous Diwali filled with happiness, peace, and hope,” Mayor Brooks said.
Key attractions during the celebration included the lighting of 11,111 diyas symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, group Hanuman Chalisa chanting, children’s activities, a Ramleela performance, Govardhan Puja, and the ornate decorations of Sita Ram and Radha Krishna deities.
The vibrant events reflected the community’s enthusiasm and unity, with attendees expressing appreciation to the Radha Krishna Temple and the City of Allen for creating a platform to celebrate shared cultural heritage.
The Diwali Mahotsav also emphasized spiritual engagement and community bonding through traditional rituals and educational programs. Organizers noted the event’s growing participation as evidence of the region’s increasing multicultural engagement.

The concluding event will feature devotional offerings and communal feasting, extending the spirit of Diwali beyond the festival week.
