Chicago seniors host Gujarati concert

Attendees gather in Schaumburg for music event featuring Indian folk performances and community outreach.

On April 18, more than 1,000 attendees gathered at the India Hub in Schaumburg, Illinois, for ‘Mor Bani Thangat Kare ‘Gujarati Dhamaal’ Concert Presented by Bharatiya Senior Citizens of Chicago, an evening of Gujarati folk music, community programming and a brief political address.

The event was organized by the Bharatiya Senior Citizens of Chicago and opened with remarks from BSC Secretary Rakshika Anjaria, who outlined upcoming programs for members. The concert was presented by national promoter Bhavana Modi of ‘Manpasand.’

Performers from India, including Disha Patel and Sanket Patel, sang folk compositions by Jhaverchand Meghani. The set included songs such as “Aswar Mavdi Chand Kaho…” along with garba and other traditional pieces familiar to the audience. Organizers said the performances were well received by attendees.

The program was hosted by emcee Jigna Gandhi, whose presentation guided the event. Organizers credited her role in maintaining the flow of the program and engaging the audience throughout the evening.

During the event, Melissa Bean, a former congresswoman and Democratic Party candidate for Illinois’ 8th District, was welcomed with flowers by TV Asia Chicago Bureau Chief Vandana Jhingan, Vinesh Virani, and BSC President Haribhai Patel. In her remarks, Bean urged attendees to vote in the upcoming November election and expressed hope for a majority victory.

The event concluded with dinner for attendees.

Organizers said the gathering combined cultural programming with community engagement, bringing together senior members for an evening of music and interaction.
