Anish Pyne claims People’s Choice at CMU

Pyne said the award reflected his ability to connect with a broad audience.

Anish Pyne, a doctoral student in biological sciences of Indian origin, won the People’s Choice Award at the Carnegie Mellon University Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Championship held March 25 at McConomy Auditorium. Pyne, who is from West Bengal and studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, was recognized for his presentation on microbiology research related to bacteria and drinking water systems.

The annual competition challenges doctoral students to present their research to a general audience in three minutes. This year’s finals featured 10 participants presenting topics ranging from cancer treatment to robotics and artificial intelligence.
