AISHA WAHAB: A QUESTION OF TRUST

Letter to editor. / NIA

When Ms. Wahab was the party favorite for the state Senate, I somehow ended up at her table at an event. We talked a bit, and I was impressed by this well-spoken mohtarma from the Land of the Taliban. If she was in my district, I might have voted for her.

Because I did not know that there was venom in her heart. An activist hate group had lied to her about Hindus, and instead of asking Hindus in her district, she believed them.  Her shocking blatant lies on the Senate floor got her bill, SB403, passed with a thumping majority. She blindsided Hindus by her stealth agenda.

Had Governor Newsom signed the bill, Aisha Wahab’s SB403 would have painted a big red star on every Hindu’s forehead: stay away, s/he might be casteist.

My point, though, is not about caste. It’s not about Hindus, and not even about religion.

My point is about integrity. Wahab concealed her intent – arguably, her signature issue – and got nominated under false pretenses. She went on to get $1.9 million in “independent” group spending on her behalf. And yet she is running – again – as a grassroots activist.

In my humble opinion, we cannot trust her ever again.
