India honored at Houston military ball

The event highlighted growing India-U.S. defense engagement and military cooperation.

The Houston Military Affairs Committee (HMAC) selected India as the featured country for its 2026 Annual Armed Forces Day Military Ball.

Held May 16 at the Houston Marriott Westchase, the annual event, was organized to honor members of the U.S. military and veteran community.

It was chaired this year by the United States Coast Guard and attended by military officials, diplomats, veterans, and civic leaders.



According to HMAC, the event also featured U.S. Representative Randy Weber, Rear Admiral Will E. Watson of the U.S. Coast Guard, and Consul General of India D.C. Manjunath as speaker.

In a statement, the Consulate General of India in Houston thanked HMAC for the recognition and acknowledged the leadership of Commander Eugene N. Tulich, chairman of HMAC, and Captain Nicole Rodriguez of the United States Coast Guard in organizing the event.

Representing India at the gathering, CG Manjunath delivered the keynote address, highlighting cooperation between India and the United States in defense, maritime security, emerging technologies, and people-to-people engagement.

“India and the United States are partners by choice, not by chance,” Manjunath said.He also referred to the Major Defense Partner framework between the two countries and called for strengthening bilateral security cooperation further.
