NJIIFF is an initiative of the Indian Arts and Culture Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on promoting arts, culture, and cinema. The festival serves as a platform to connect American, Indian, and South Asian audiences while supporting independent filmmakers and diverse storytelling.
The festival will feature multiple competition categories, including feature films, short films, New Jersey-based productions, and ultra-short films. Dedicated sections will highlight women in filmmaking and films addressing social issues such as human rights, equality, justice, environmental concerns, and mental health.
A category focused on Indian films will include works produced in India or centered on Indian themes.
Organizers said the festival aims to strengthen cultural and creative ties between the United States and India while encouraging cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration. It also seeks to expand visibility for Indian regional cinema, including films in Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, and Telugu.
In addition to screenings, the festival is designed to provide a platform for interaction between filmmakers, producers, and audiences, supporting engagement and exchange within the independent film community.
Awards will be presented across multiple categories, including best feature film, best director, acting and writing honors in both feature and short film segments, and recognitions for women filmmakers, including best woman director, writer, and producer. The festival’s top honor will be awarded as the “Best of the Best Film.”
Entry to the screenings is free, with prior registration required.
