Indian Films & Music-Dance festival brings together diaspora in NJ / X/@IndiainNewYork
The Consulate General of India in New York, in collaboration with Kathak dancer Archana Joglekar, hosted the Indian Films & Music-Dance Festival 2026 in Somerset, New Jersey, bringing together the Indian American community for a cultural celebration.
The March 29 event was organized by the Consulate in association with Madhyam, a nonprofit organization founded by Joglekar to promote Indian classical dance and music in the United States.
The festival highlighted the influence of Indian cinema across multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Hindi.

Through a blend of music and dance performances, the event showcased how films continue to serve as a powerful medium of storytelling and cultural connection across generations and geographies.
The performances fused classical, folk, and contemporary styles, reflecting the diversity and evolution of Indian artistic traditions.
The Consulate shared glimpses of the event on X, stating, “Blending classical, folk and contemporary expressions, the event brought the community together and strengthened the cultural connect between India and the United States, with the Indian American community at its core.”

The event also aimed to strengthen cultural ties between India and the United States, with the diaspora playing a central role in the celebrations.
The Consulate expressed appreciation to participating artists, performers, and partners, adding, “Special appreciation to all artists, performers and partners for curating a memorable celebration of India’s rich artistic heritage.”
