An Indian wedding procession took over New York City's Wall Street over the weekend, turning the historic financial hub into a vibrant cultural celebration.

The video of the 400-person wedding procession, known as the ‘baraat’, featuring dhols, DJs, and traditional attire has gone viral with more than 2 million views across platforms, drawing widespread attention to the high-energy celebration on one of the world’s most recognized financial streets.

Indian industrialist Harsh Goenka, weighed in on the event, sharing a video on X with the remark: “Wall Street was once ruled by bulls and bears. Now it's dhols and baraats. Indians everywhere.”

The extravagant baarat was part of Varun Navani and Amanda Soll’s wedding. Navani is the CEO of AI firm Rolai, and Soll, a director of legal compliance and risk management.

DJ AJ, who performed at the event, wrote on Instagram, “We shut down Wall Street for a 400-person Baraat—who would've ever thought?! Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime kind of magic.”

While many hailed the celebration as a symbol of India's global cultural reach, others questioned the appropriateness of such public displays in foreign settings. A section of social media users described the event as “cringe,” with one comment stating, “Indians need to adapt to the community that we choose to migrate to, rather than impose ourselves on them.”

The video, widely circulated across platforms, sparked debate but also highlighted the rising visibility of the Indian diaspora in global cultural spaces.
