The United States on May 13 welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan and praised the leaders of both nations for opting for peace over conflict. It also urged New Delhi and Islamabad to maintain direct lines of communication to preserve regional stability.
“We welcome the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif for choosing the path of peace,” said Tommy Pigott, Principal Deputy Spokesperson at the U.S. State Department, during a press briefing in Washington.
