The South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) has issued a final reminder for students to apply for its 2025 scholarship program, with the deadline fast approaching on May 16.
As part of its mission to support aspiring South Asian journalists and promote high-quality journalism, SAJA is offering $30,000 in scholarships, to be distributed among up to six students in 2025.
Applicants must submit a single PDF document to SAJA board member Mihir Zaveri at mihir.a.zaveri@gmail.com, with “SAJA Scholarship” in the subject line. The PDF must include the following:
• A resume
• A 350-word essay outlining the applicant’s interest in journalism, academic and professional plans, and how they plan to contribute back to SAJA
• A financial need statement, including details of student loans and current or expected financial aid
• 2–3 published clips or writing samples
• Proof of enrollment
Applicants may be contacted for a phone or in-person interview as part of the selection process.
Scholarship winners will be announced in June, and full details are available on the SAJA website.
Since its inception, the SAJA Scholarship Program has helped launch the careers of numerous South Asian journalists by providing financial assistance and fostering a strong network of mentorship and professional development opportunities.
