An American traveller, Charlie Evans, posted a video on Instagram during his visit to the Amber Fort in Jaipur, where he labelled Indians as “lazy” and “out of shape,” bringing in a long series of mixed reactions from netizens.
In the viral video, Evans shows groups of visitors who had stopped midway through the hike to the fort, some resting, chatting, or having cigarettes and drinks.

Evans pointed out to these groups and claimed that this was the general approach of the Indian visitors, who, according to him, were not willing to finish the hike.
“I know why Indians are out of shape,” said Evans in the video.
He further went on to say that despite there being ‘thousands of people’ at the starting point, very few ultimately made it to the top.
“They’re paying to get in, and then they’re stuck halfway up… They’re lazy,” he added.
Evans’s remarks in the video, which crossed 4 lakh views on Instagram, sparked a debate among netizens.
While some users agreed with Evans’ comments, claiming that fitness often takes a backseat in everyday life, some disagreed with his take, calling his remarks shallow and unfair, and some pointed out how the American tourist’s judgment was based on a small segment of the population.
