The University of Oklahoma (OU) has appointed Laku Chidambaram as the new dean of the Michael F. Price College of Business, effective May 31.

A respected academic leader with more than two decades of service to the college, Chidambaram has been serving as interim dean since July 2024. Currently, he holds the Michael F. Price chair in business and serves as a provost faculty fellow.

Prior to his interim deanship, he was senior associate dean for academic programs and engagement, overseeing undergraduate, master’s, and executive education at Price College. Under his leadership, the college has experienced significant growth and national recognition.

Notably, philanthropy has also flourished during his tenure. Approximately $25 million in donations and pledges have been secured, including a landmark $6 million gift from Leo and Lauren Von Mingee to support first-generation business students—the largest such scholarship endowment in OU’s history.

Chidambaram has overseen the expansion of graduate programs from five to twelve and introduced twelve new undergraduate offerings. His emphasis on experiential learning, leadership development, and global exposure has led to stronger student outcomes and broader industry impact, the university said in a statement.

An accomplished scholar in management information systems, he holds degrees from Indiana University, the University of Georgia, and Loyola College, India. He is also the founder of the eService Journal and shares thought leadership on AI and education through his monthly LinkedIn newsletter, AI and I.
