The University of Birmingham and the University of Glasgow have luanched a joint initiative for giving career guidance to international students, especially Indian.  Launching in May 2025, the initiative aims to equip graduates with the skills and connections to aid their prospects in the job market.

A key feature is a new graduate career role based in India, collaborating with local employers, alumni, and industry boards to offer practical support that includes pre-entry briefings, skills programs, and post-graduation engagement. In the UK, dedicated International Engagement Teams within the universities’ Careers Services will offer career advice, alumni mentoring, and employer-led events to boost student outcomes.

Available for up to five years after graduation, the program leverages the universities’ 400,000-strong alumni network and employer partnerships to deliver up-to-date career guidance.

Professor Adam Tickell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, said the idea is to help  international students "make the most of graduate opportunities".

Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, added, the initiative will help the students'  "transition to professional life – opening up new pathways to success and strengthening our global alumni community".
