"SICOMP is a prestigious journal in theoretical computer science and it is my honor to have been chosen to become its EIC," Chekuri, who joined UIUC in 2006 said. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Stanford University and a B.Tech. in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
Before his academic appointment at Illinois, Chekuri spent nearly eight years as a member of technical staff at Lucent Bell Labs. His research interests include discrete and combinatorial optimization, theoretical computer science, and mathematical programming.
Published by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), the journal is recognized as one of the leading platforms for research in the mathematical and formal aspects of computer science. It covers a broad range of topics, including algorithm design and analysis, computational complexity, combinatorics, cryptography, computational geometry, artificial intelligence, and distributed computing.
