The Super Sixty Cricket League (SSCL), a new 10-over international competition, officially launched its global campaign on Aug. 22 with a Draft Event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The event introduced the league’s format, brand identity and team selection process to an audience of diplomats, business leaders, sports professionals and media. Organizers said the league’s “Super Sixty” format is designed to deliver fast-paced competition that blends athletic skill with entertainment value.

The inaugural edition of the SSCL will be staged in Doha, Qatar, from November 5–16, 2025, with six franchises, Al Khor Thunders, Al Wakrah Falcons, Doha Legends, Dukhan Warriors, Ras Laffan Strikers and AR Rayyan Titans.

Founder and chief executive officer AZ Qasmi described the launch as the beginning of an international effort to expand cricket’s reach. “The Super Sixty Cricket League is more than a tournament—it's an international movement to bring cricket to new frontiers. Our Draft Event in Washington, D.C., marks the beginning of a journey to connect cultures, empower athletes, and engage fans worldwide. Launching in the U.S. highlights our commitment to making cricket part of the global conversation."

The league is supported by Haroon Lorgat, former chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), who has joined as senior advisor. His involvement, organizers noted, provides governance expertise and international credibility as the SSCL seeks to establish itself on the global stage.

Officials said the league is negotiating partnerships with sponsors, broadcasters and sporting organizations to secure worldwide visibility. Alongside live audiences in Doha, the SSCL aims to attract a significant digital following.
